Murray Cod Reel of Fortune fishing competition terms and conditions

The Promotion

  1. The Murray Cod Reel of Fortune fishing competition (Promotion) is being conducted by Murray Cod Australia (ABN: 74 143 928 625) and the NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI).
  2. Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 and over and entrants aged under 18 who have the permission of their parent or guardian to participate (Eligible Entrants).
  3. Employees and contractors of Murray Cod Australia and NSW DPI (including their immediate families) are ineligible to enter.
  4. The Promotion commences on 00:00 14 February 2020 and closes on 23:59, 31 August 2021 (Promotion End Date), coinciding with the close of Murray cod fishing season.
  5. Murray Cod Australia and NSW DPI reserve the right to suspend the promotion at any time in line with the Government’s COVID-19 health advice, tagged fish caught during this period are not eligible for a cash prize.
  6. Murray Cod Australia and NSW DPI will be tagging and releasing 10 Aquna Murray Cod, each tag will have a unique identifying number, as well as the word ‘Aquna’ written on the tag.
  7. To win, Eligible Entrants must:
  8. Catch a tagged Murray cod within the state of NSW
  9. ‘Like’ our ‘Aquna Sustainable Murray Cod’ Facebook page and ‘Follow’ our ‘Aquna Sustainable Murray Cod’ Instagram page
  10. Sign up to the Aquna Sustainable Murray Cod newsletter; and
  11. Claim a prize (following the process in paragraphs 13 - 15 below) before the Promotion End Date.
  12. Fish caught in the Promotion may be kept (as per NSW DPI regulations) or released. If a fish is released, the tag must be removed (and retained) by carefully cutting the tag off close to the fish’s skin.
  13. Prizes will only be awarded for fish caught in New South Wales waters, using legal recreational fishing equipment and in compliance with current NSW DPI regulations.
  14. Only one prize will be awarded for each individual tag.

Prizes

  1. Prizes will be allocated as follows:
  1. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 001 will be awarded $10,000.
  2. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 002 will be awarded $5,000 and an additional $5,000 to give to your favourite charity within the Murray-Darling Basin system.
  3. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 003 will be awarded $2,000.
  4. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 004 will be awarded $2,000.
  5. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 005 will be awarded $1,000.
  6. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 006 will be awarded $1,000.
  7. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 007 will be awarded $1,000.
  8. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 008 will be awarded $1,000.
  9. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 009 will be awarded $1,000.
  10. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 0010 will be awarded $1,000.
  11. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 0011 will be awarded $1,000.
  12. The Eligible Entrant who catches the Murray cod tagged with Aquna 0012 will be awarded $1,000.
  1. Eligible Entrants may win multiple prizes.

Claiming a Prize

  1. To claim a prize an Eligible Entrant must:
  • a. at the time the fish is caught:
    • i. record the location and date that the fish was caught;
    • ii. measure the length of the fish;
    • iii. photograph the fish with the tag still in place; and
    • iv. remove the tag by cutting it off with a sharp knife or scissors and retain the tag.
  • b. call Murray Cod Australia on 0400 741 648 to report your catch, the location, date and fish size.
  1. Murray Cod Australia will provide Eligible Entrants who call on the above phone number with a Prize Claim Declaration Form for each prize claimed.
  2. The Prize Claim Declaration Form will require Eligible Entrants to confirm the date and location of the catch, tag identifying number and their compliance with these Terms and Conditions.

The information outline in article 13, including the tag itself, will be required by Murray Cod Australia for prize verification.

Prize Verification

  1. Before awarding a prize, Murray Cod Australia will verify the validity of entries and eligibility of entrants. Murray Cod Australia may refuse to award a prize to any individual who Murray Cod Australia reasonably believes has breached any of these terms or engaged in any unlawful or other improper conduct in participating in the Promotion.
  2. Prize winners will be notified via email within 14 days of Murray Cod Australia receiving and verifying a Prize Claim Declaration Form.
  3. Winners will have their details published on the Aquna Sustainable Murray Cod website.
  4. Prize monies will be paid to winners by electronic funds transfer within 28 days of Murray Cod Australia notifying the winner that the Prize Claim Declaration Form has been verified.

Use of Entrant Information

  1. Murray Cod Australia will collect and use entrants’ personal information in conducting the Promotion in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
  2. Murray Cod Australia may also use Eligible Entrants’ personal information for reasonable promotional, marketing, publicity and research purposes, including sending electronic messages to, or telephoning, any entrant.
